About Kirsten
Meet the Artist
Kirsten Williams is a contemporary artist who finds endless inspiration in reimagining everyday moments. Her works are often abstract in nature, telling a story through saturation of color, layers and movement of paint. Each mark created is intentional, intuitive and unites with the rest of the piece to forever capture a moment in time.
Kirsten’s creativity emerged early in life and never waned. Growing up drawing, photography, quilting and pottery all played notable roles in her creative journey. Largely a self-taught painter, she’s been cultivating her craft for over 15 years. She currently works out of her home studio in Northern Virginia.
Behind The Art
Kirsten's Process
Kirsten believes that inspiration is everywhere if you’re open to seeing it. It can strike at any moment, often an unpredictable one, so she keeps a journal for her growing list of musings. A song or lyric, color or texture, shadow or silhouette – all of these little gems are meticulously written down, and she’ll often revisit her journal when starting new work or if she has a creative block.
Kirsten’s two daughters are also full of inspiration and ideas. They love being in the studio with her, whether it’s to paint their own masterpieces or give critique, it’s their favorite after school hangout.
In addition to creating, Kirsten is also an avid art collector and enjoys collecting treasures for her own home. She understands how special it is when a piece finds the perfect collector.
